Becoming a Trademark Agent with No Firm Backing?

Hello!

I am seeking advice/information with respect to trademark agency.

As I understand it, back in the day lawyers who were experienced in the world of trademarks could become a registered trademark agent by signing an affidavit.

Now, since the creation of the Intellectual Property College in summer 2021 one can become a registered trademark agent by working under the supervision of a registered trademark agent and then taking the exam after 1 year.

I would imagine that this would be certainly feasible for someone already working in an intellectual property group at a firm or at an intellectual property boutique-- however is there any way to seek out registered trademark agent supervisors if you're not already working in intellectual property?

Thank you in advance!
