Just got "cancelled" with the red X

GPA 4.27. 165 LSAT first and only take.

Professional work and small business owner for 12 years. 35 years old.

Deans list. 2 scholarships. Part time volunteering experience

I am speechless as I only applied to UofC due to having young kids.

Congrats to everyone who got accepted though.

This stresses me out you have really good stats and ECS. Did you write the optional essay?

U of C is more of a holistic school and they rejected you?! Your gpa, lsat and work experience are all amazing! This makes me curious regarding what criteria they use. Please reach out to them and see what explanation they provide.

I don’t think that’s why you got rejected. A lot of people get accepted without writing optional essay. Your application seems really strong I am not sure why you did and I am sorry that you did! My stats are significantly lower and makes me more nervous about my chances there

Thank you for your suggestion. I was just speaking with my husband and he suggested the same thing. I was hopeful I would be accepted but as I wasn't,  I would love to know what was missing... I didnt receive any email notifications. Just happened to check the portal today.

I did. My to-do list was all completed on Jan 10. I will reach out for confirmation and hopefully have some insights (if any).

Don't be nervous. I have seen others who got accepted with lower stats but I am sure their applications are strong in certain areas. It just sucks as I cannot relocate the family. Hopefully you have more alternatives just in case.

Hey really sorry to hear this! Out of curiosity - which scale are you using for your GPA? To my knowledge it only goes up to 4.0 on the scale used by UCalgary. Thanks and all the best 🙂

I did not calculate the GPA according to UofC scale. 4.27 / 4.30 is on my transcript from the university granting my degree. And thank you for your kind words. I am over it (too busy with sick kids to sit and dwell on it lol). I am going to retake LSAT and try again for next year :)!

Good luck with your journey this year :)!

my first instinct is that they didn't want you to reject them because your stats are really strong for UofC (and for most Canadian law schools). I highly recommend calling them, telling the admissions staff it was the only school you applied to, and see if they change their decision.

This is my perspective having applied to US schools (which can be infamous for protecting their admissions ratios), so I may be wrong on the reason why they rejected you. But again, I highly recommend reaching out ASAP.
