Hi everyone,

Does anyone have experience doing a competitive moot and a clinic (full year)? Do you recommend this? It's my last year and I already accepted a clinic offer, so I'm wondering if I can take on a moot offer that I just received.

I did this last year (and asked this question here in prior years). You can definitely manage it. Make sure you prioritize your clinic work over moot stuff. Moot is just play court, in the clinic your work might actually have an impact on real people.

Moot is sort of get out what you put in. You can throw together your factum with one week of hard work, and the same goes for oral argument prep. Beyond that is gravy.

Moots tend to get very intensive in the second semester because of all the practices. I'd suggest doing the clinic in the first semester.

My experience with moots is that they’re generally busier than the credits you get. It does vary though based on the moot. Seems like clinics can also vary in intensity as well.

I would check with people who have done that particular moot/clinic to gauge workloads. Then decide how busy you want to be in 3L. Generally people want to take things a bit chiller last year and that’s my plan.
