UBC Housing/ Commute

Hello. I just got accepted to UBC on Friday and live about an hour's drive away (this is without any traffic). With traffic In rush hour, I know it can take closer to 2 hours. I was wondering if any students living in lowermainland could share their experiences going to Allard. Did you guys relocate somewhere closer to campus? Did you make the commute every day and if so how was it? Is it possible to make this commute with the workload of law school?

Thanks!

I don't go to UBC but I do have experience with long commutes. I can confidently say that spending 3-4 hours per day commuting would be miserable.

This would heavily depend on the quality of your commute. If you're talking about bumper to bumper traffic for an hour as the driver, I would highly advise against it. But if it's a train situation with a quiet zone where you can manage to get at least some easier readings / review done, then you can probably make it work.

Does anyone have any recommendations on which area to look for apartments in? The apartments near UBC are quite expensive. currently looking at apartments along bus routes 49 and 33. Already accepted my offer and paid the deposit so will be moving to Vancouver in the summer (from Ottawa).
