ON Lawyers: Why do you not get preferred insurance rates with the banks?

I was talking to a buddy in another professional field and he indicated that he gets preferred insurance rates for home and auto. So I searched it up and found that lawyers get this too... except not in ON.

At the very bottom if you click open the "legal" tab it has this to say: "1 Preferred rates are not applicable for Lawyers in Ontario, except where eligible through alumni group."

Is this because all/some ON law schools have some kind of preferred insurance rate after you become an alumni?

That's a question for TD. My guess is that it's because there are so many lawyers in ON. Too many discounts affecting the bottom line.
