Accepted 2024
I was waitlisted Monday April 29th and just got the call that I was accepted! TRU assigned grade A-, 159 LSAT, Master's degree. Was accepted somewhere closer to home so will likely be declining. The deadline to accept is May 15th. -

Waitlisted at Osgoode 2024
I was waitlisted at osgoode a month ago , but have received offers from other schools. They gave me two weeks to accept the offer. osgoode is my number one choice can i email them telling them about my offers in hope of seeing where i am on the waitlist? Anyone have any advice? Pls -

I've seen people do this. Obviously the firm isn't going to be crazy about it, but they understand to an extent. I'm assuming this is for articling? -

Barrister - 20 Day Study Plan
Truly, there is so much material. It is potentially a smart idea to read it first and then perhaps review or something later. My tentative plan is to work on the Solicitor materials from May 19-28 and then June 6-17. I have loosely mapped that out as the necessary timeline to read at ~50 page/day rate, but I need to go through and confirm that it is reasonable. With the barrister materials I literally set out every day goals and, a few days in, it is truly the best decision I could have made because I do not stress at all about 'needing to do more' which was always an issue for me during law school. -

Chance me (cgpa: 3.4, L2: 3.71, B2:3.75; LSAT: 164 (86th percentile)
I thought an update on how things have turned out so far might be helpful to future applicants so they can see what kind of results these numbers generate for general category applicants. I've done the results chronologically instead of by school, as at least in my case the schools really varied on when they would make a decision. As of May 1st, here are the results so far: Dec. 20th, 2023: A at Dalhousie. Jan. 19th: R at Calgary. Feb. 1st: A at Manitoba. Feb. 15th: A at UNB. Feb. 23rd: A at Alberta. Feb. 29th: A at Windsor (Single JD). Mar. 11th: R at U of T. Apr. 11th: R. at TMU. Apr. 18th: R. at Osgoode. Apr. 24th: A at Queens. May 1st: A at USask. Still pending: Western, Ottawa, UVIC and UBC. If anyone is interested, I can provide a couple of bullet points on what I thought of each school's process? Some were excellent, like Dal and U of A. The Calgary process is the subject of another very lengthy thread on here. Some were okay, and I thought one needs to do a lot of work on its application process, that being TMU. As of today, provisional acceptance to Queens, waiting to see what the final four have to say (well three really, UBC seems to have misplaced my R, but I'm sure they'll find it soon).- 1

Reneging Hireback Offer Mid Summer
Definitely not unheard of. I know multiple people who accepted hireback offers but never started for one reason or another (got a different job, switched markets, took a break from law, etc.). People switch firms all the time. I would say you are almost certainly burning the bridge with this firm but, as you say, it doesn't matter if you never want to go back. -

My advice is that in my experience working at a big law firm (albeit for only a summer), they understand family issues. I say be candid about wanting to be closer to family and they will understand. -

Reneging Hireback Offer Mid Summer
Hi everyone, I recently got hired back at my Bay St firm. I accepted it because I felt I'd be crazy not to. However, I may now have an opportunity to go back home to get a job with better WLB, similar pay and live closer to friends and family. I have heard that I can likely get an interview through personal connections. Is it unheard of to back out of a Bay St offer before you even start, and to the extent that I am burning bridges does that really matter if I never really want to go back? Thanks. -

Accepted to Saskatchewan 2024
Can’t believe I’m writing this. I opened my Usask account at 1:00 a.m. and saw the decision letter. Feeling very happy and grateful! Applied on January 31st. I have a strong Saskatchewan connection. Here are my stats: LSAT 153—>155 B2: 87.5% CGPA: 83.85% Deadline to accept: May 21, 2024 I honestly didn’t think I would get an acceptance this early; I thought I would even get waitlisted. I have a feeling my Personal Statement may have helped my application quite a bit. -

September 2022 - Big Law Salaries?
That’s interesting. US firms don’t knock you down in pay in the senior lateral context, they just tell you the minimum time at the firm before you can be promoted is x years. On the other hand, I’ve seen people held back a year because the firm felt they hadn’t progressed enough in skill level, but we’re busy enough we don’t want to fire them. -

Hi, I’m looking for some advice in deciding between Dal & TRU. My interests are around human rights, non profit and Indigenous law. Im from BC & would like to work in BC in the future! Any advice is great! 🙂
